As long as I'm complaining about geek institutions, Star Wars. The first one.

It's not good. Sure, it's a fun movie to watch. Sure, it was a breakthrough in cinema. Sure, it spawned a cavalcade of related properties that are good. But :Star Wars Episode Four: A New Hope" is shitty. Especially Mark Hamil. I like him now. His Joker in Batman: The Animated Series is GREAT. But he sucked it Star Wars. The story kinda sucked too. "Oh, you're a farm boy who's never flown before? Here's an X-Wing, have fun." Also, there's creepy sexual tension between Luke and Leia. It continues through Empire actually. All the more proof that Lucas makes the shit up as he goes.
